The Chamber of Civil Engineers Istanbul Branch Graduate Student Conference is an event where students enrolled in master's and doctoral programs in the Department of Civil Engineering present their publications produced from their thesis work in written and oral forms. The main purpose of the event is to enable students to fulfill the publication requirement for their graduation. Additionally, it aims to create a platform for sharing and discussing the scientific research conducted within the scope of their theses with Chamber members and other interested parties.
The Chamber of Civil Engineers Istanbul Branch Graduate Student Conference is being held for the first time. In this pilot event, only publications produced from theses prepared in the “transportation” field of the Civil Engineering only will be considered for evaluation. Papers from other fields of civil and other disciplines will not be considered. It is planned that the conferences, which are intended to be held twice a year in accordance with the graduate degree schedules (during the spring and fall semesters), will cover all sub-fields of Civil Engineering in future periods.
Papers must be submitted digitally to the relevant address in the format specified below, within the dates indicated, as an abstract, extended abstract, or full text. Each master's and doctoral candidate may submit only one paper to the conference. Using the template given, a signed statement (see Paper Submission) from the thesis advisor confirming that the submitted paper has not been previously published elsewhere must be uploaded during the paper submission process. The authors of the paper must be the thesis student and advisor. A co-advisor and other individuals may be included in the author list, with their contributions specified in the paper.
There are options to attend the conference in-person or online. Papers may be written in Turkish or English. Oral presentations must be delivered in the language of the submitted paper. The student who prepared the thesis is expected to make the oral presentation. The participation certificate will be issued only in the name of the presenter. No participation certificate will be issued for papers without making an oral presentation.
Abstracts, extended abstracts, or full papers submitted will be compiled into an ISBN-numbered digital book and published in the Chamber's electronic library following the conference. For the paper to be included in the digital book, the paper must be presented verbally at the conference.
Submitted papers will be reviewed by at least two members of the Scientific Committee. Thesis advisors who submit papers to the conference together with their students will be deemed to have accepted to serve on the Scientific Committee to be formed. Evaluation reports will be shared with the applicant before the conference to contribute to the improvement of the paper and thesis.
Papers may be submitted as an abstract, extended abstract, or full text file. The paper file must be prepared in Word Document format according to the guidelines and template given below. The Word document file must be uploaded to the GSC2025 conference address provided below. Submissions via email or physical mail will not be accepted.
